English

Literacy Suffolk provides tutoring to adults who:

  • are at least 16 years of age and out of school.
  • read and write at or below the sixth grade level.
  • need to improve their basic English conversation skills and understanding of American culture.
All student applicants are interviewed and evaluated. Referrals to other programs are made as needed.

We help adults in Suffolk County to learn to read and write (Basic Literacy) or to speak English (ESOL - English for Speakers of Other Languages.)

  • Tutoring is FREE.
  • You will be tutored at a nearby library for 2 to 3 hours a week.
How to apply:
  • Print and fill out the Application Form (below)
  • Mail (address is on the application) or Fax (631) 286-1668 the completed form to us
  • A volunteer will contact you to arrange an interview
  • We will call you when we have a tutor for you, or we will try to find you another program
  • Any questions, call (631) 286-1649
